Surrounding the top wheelchair rugby action in main hall Spektrum, DGI-Huset and Vejle will host a number of exciting side actitivies and events connected to para sport. Here is a small taste of what's happening.
VIP Match, August 3, 12 PM to 2 PM
The Vejle City Council will face off against the Danish National Team to kick off a week of wheelchair rugby action in Denmark's Capital of Parasport. Parasport Denmark and Vejle are inviting locals and tourists to experience the fun up close in the city square.
VIP Reception and Opening Ceremony, August 7, 3 PM to 7 PM
Vejle and Parasport Danmark are inviting sponsors, VIP's and partners to witness the opening ceremony and Denmark's opening match at the European Championships. Parasport Danmarks protector, Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte, is among the expected guests. The opening ceremony will include speeches and oaths as well as powerful entertainment to set the mood ahead of Denmark's match against Poland.
Youth Center visits, August 8, 10 AM to 2 PM
Approximately 100 kids from local youth centers will visit DGI-Huset to learn more about para sport and the opportunities for everyone to lead a healthy and active life. The kids will try out different para sports guided by teachers from Parasport Denmark, and they will get to experience world class wheelchair rugby up close.
PARAHUB2019, August 8, 10 AM to 5 PM
Focus is on innovation, new technologies and knowledge sharing during this conference that invites athletes, researchers, disability organisations and businesses to join forces in shaping the future of para sport in Denmark.
Egmont Højskolen visits, August 9, 10 AM to 3 PM
250 students and teachers from Egmont Højskolen - a popular Danish boarding school built on the principle of young people with disabilities and their helpers living and studying side by side, benefiting from each other's perspective on life - will spend a day at the IWRF Wheelchair Rugby European Championship. Here, they will watch the match between Germany and the Netherlands, and they will have a chance to try out the sport for themselves
Welcoming Denmark's sports federations, August 9-11
Over the course of three days, employees and board members from all 62 sports federations under DIF (the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation in Denmark) will attend the championships to witness world class para sport. The goal is to strengthen the relationship between the federations and to further develop the work being done in Danish sport to include and improve the opportunities of athletes with disabilities.
Fun Family Sport, August 10, 11 AM to 2 PM
Kids, young adults and their parents and grandparents are all invited to get a special taste of wheelchair rugby as well as other para sports in a relaxed atmosphere in DGI-Huset - within earshot of the intense action of the European Championships.
